In 1980 Master Watchmaker, Roger Dubuis, opened a small repair and restoration facility just outside of Geneva and became the go-to guy for impossible repairs, intricate restorations, and complex design programs for such notable houses as Patek Philippe, and...well...it doesn't get much more noble than Patek Philippe so we'll stop with the name dropping. In 1995 Dubuis began producing his own line of elite timepieces with the thought of mass production as his goal. Fortunately, sanity prevailed and he decided to make no more than 25 pieces of any given model (later settling on 28 pieces, as the number 28 represents eternal life). Each of these rare timepieces was branded with the esteemed Geneva Quality Hallmark. The company philosophy of "Limited Edition" timepiece production is followed today...sort of. Making all of his movements "In-House," Dubuis currently has 28 different Calibers. However, with popularity comes the realization that 28 pieces of a coveted, and potentially profitable timepiece may have been a bit short sighted. Therefore, in some cases his "Limited Edition" numbers go as high as 280 pieces. Still quite rare. Integrated rubber dive straps, Diamond encrusted bracelets, flamboyant case designs and neo-classic styling can be found in the Roger Dubuis catalog. The Easy Diver, the Sympathie and the Homage Minute Repeater are incredible timepieces. The Excalibur line is absolutely exceptional. Whether designing for men or for women, Roger Dubuis has his finger on the correct pulse. Without question, RD timepieces will be know for centuries to come as serious horlogerie.
