• Maurice Lacroix
In 1999 Maurice Lacroix took a fifty-year old (bauche from the "Manufacture" Fontainemelon and elaborated the manual wind movement for use in their Masterpiece Collection.
From that point forward other manufactures have followed Maurice Lacroix' s lead by using the Unitas 6380, and its sibling Calibers, the 6376 with date, and their 6388 with day and date but with no second hand.
The upshot for ML was that by using such a relatively inexpensive, yet extremely dependable movement, was to create a competitive price point for an elite Swiss timepiece that was spectacularly attractive.
From their use of the Reveil Caliber alarm movement to hand decorated movements by Saignelegier watchmakers, Maurice Lacroix has been on the cutting edge of technology and design.
Their Perpetual and Annual Calendar timepieces, some of which are further complicated with automatic Chronograph, Flyback and moon Phase indicators, are considered some of the finest produced by any manufacture in Switzerland.
The attention to detail, from Guilloche dials to Winchester-blued hands formed in Breguet, saber, Dauphine, and crescent, Squelette and beyond are staples found in the illustrious house of Maurice.
