• IWC
IWC is a Swiss company begun by American Florentine Aristo Jones who set up shop on the banks of the Rhine in Schaffhausen Switzerland in 1869, choosing the name International Watch Company as a way to sell "cheap" European timepieces to a booming and savvy USA timepiece market.
Jump ahead to today, and we see a company under the muscular umbrella of The Richemont Group. Granted a freedom F.A Jones could only dream of, IWC has become one of the most influential manufactures in all of Switzerland.
Manly timepieces illustrate the aim of this company. The Automatic Aquatimer Chronograph, sporting an inner rotating bezel with a crown that self seals as you descend past the 60-meter depth is a perfect example.
Their Pilot series of timepieces with their soft-iron cores to fight magnetism is where IWC truly excels. The prime example being the Seven-Day-Power-Reserve Big Pilot. The BP is 47 mm, and killer awesome.
The Antimagnetic Doppelchronograph, Split-Second Chrono is classicism defined, as is the Mark XV and XVI.
Their Automatic and manual-wind Portuguese line is both sexy and big. Sporting such complications as Perpetual Calendar, Moon Phase, Power Reserve, Regulator, and Chronograph, these important timepieces are most certainly for real men.
Suffice to say, IWC and Mr. Klaus don't think inside the box...they don't think outside the box either...they simply don't think of boxes...!
