• Ebel
The luxury group Louis Vuitton, Moet & Hennessy (LVMH) shares acronym status with another luxury brand created by, Eugène Blum Et Lévy, or as is more commonly known, Ebel. Ebel was founded in 1911, a number variously repeated in the catalog of this Swiss manufacture. In 1972 a fortuitous collaboration with Cartier sent Ebel into their "Architects of Time" era.
The 1911 Chronograph from that period, as well as today, was outfitted with the horologically important Zenith 'El Primero" movement. The World Timer had the Lemania movement, as does the more modern Discovery.
It's the attention to detail both in beautiful design, think of the Beluga here, and in mechanical aptitude that make Ebel such a wonderful marquee. Even when Ebel uses a Quartz movement, the movement is the highest quality Mecha-Quartz from ETA's E-20 program.
Tarawa Chrono's in solid Gold and in robust Stainless Steel, Sportwave models in Diamond and Gold iterations, and the 1911 Chronograph in XXL trim show a versatility second to none within the elite Swiss brands. The Ebel dive watch, Discovery, is as beautiful and handsome as it is practical.
With Ebel's new owner the goal was simple. Let the watchmakers and the artistic technicians move the company forward. LVMH will provide the financial muscle for the Architects of Time to create their magic.
