• Dunhill

Belying the obvious "A. Dunhill Ltd. London" markings, the origin of this, and all of Dunhill's elite timepieces is indeed Swiss. This fact is dutifully printed on the lower dial of all Dunhill wrist watches. Tom Bolt is the design mastermind behind the resurgence of the Dunhill "Motorities" renaissance. The City Tamer, the Wheel Watch, and the super cool Bobby Finder line are amazing examples of his horological verve. The term Bobby Finder is an Alfred Dunhill original. In the early part of the 20th century Alfred was pulled over for speeding and issued a ticket. Even though he wasn't the driver, he was upset enough for his driver that he invented, then applied for a patent for the worlds first fuzz buster. What he invented was an ordinary looking set of driving goggles with stealthily-built-in set of binoculars. These were available at "Dunhill's Motorities Store." "Motorities," was a term Mr. Dunhill used to describe items essential for safe, pleasant and efficient motoring (definitely his primary passion). Here was the copy from his original ad: "DUNHILLS' BOBBY FINDERS (PATENT APPLIED FOR) WILL SPOT A POLICEMAN AT HALF A MILE, EVEN IF DISGUISED AS A RESPECTABLE MAN." Automatic Chronographs with hidden pushers, Power Reserve's in the form of gas gauges, and grill work ornamentation to cover the sapphire crystal are just a small example of Bolt's genius. Once you've owned a Dunhill, you will most certainly own another...!
